Guy Lacelle,
His friends call him one of the world's smoothest ice climbers. Guy differs
from other leading ice climbers in that he climbs almost exclusively
solo and in remote locations. Guy climbs WI6+ routes with his waist
pack which contains his harness and a 120m, 6mm rope - only as a means
to get down. His accomplishments expand throughout the globe. Some
notable solo ascents include "The Terminator" WI 6+, "Sea
of Vapors" WI 5+, "Curtain Call" WI 6, "Ames Ice
Hose" WI 5, and "Hydenfossen" WI 6.
Lacelle is a self-sponsored climber and except for a select group within the mountaineering community, he is an unsung hero. He resides in Prince George, BC with his wife Marge Lachecki. They work together tree planting five months of the year, then part company when the climbing season begins.
