Rob Pizem

Rob has been sport, trad, and boulder climbing for nearly 11 years. He enjoys first ascents, long free routes and the unexpected. He has climbed all over the US, Europe, Mexico, Canada. and New Zealand putting most of his recent efforts into first free ascents in Zion National Park. Rob loves to be on the sharp end and is willing to "go for it" when the time is right.

Rob is also the first person to complete the Astro-Tour a one week long back to back climb of all the west coasts Astro-themed routes. No drivers, no sleep, just climbing and drving over 4500 hundred miles and thousands of feet of climbing!


Rob Pizem and Mike Anderson freed the classic Dunn Route on Angel's Landing in Zion in a bold one-day push. The ten-pitch route went free at 5.13a with six of the ten pitches getting R ratings.

The Golden Years - New Free Ascent Ushers in New Era in Zion Giving us a taste of what was to come, Pizem and Anderson freed Golden Years at 5.12+ in September 2005.

Thunderbird Wall - Rob Pizem and Mike Anderson have made the first free ascent of the Thunderbird Wall route on the North Face of Timbertop Mesa in Zion National Park.

Currently Rob is living and working as a high school science teacher in Salzburg, Austria where he hopes to hone his skills on the limestone of Europe. "Ahhhh Yeaaaa!"
